Blogging is a very personal thing… in fact it’s a journey of one person sharing with others throughout a certain period of time. It’s an evolution.
To me it’s most certainly a way to share my web experiences good and bad, and educate people who need to learn about the Internet – whether it’s blogging, affiliate marketing, SEO, RSS, social bookmarking, HTML/web design, Photoshop… name it.
In the past few months, I have become a Wordpress junkie and practically know everything about it. Just like the iPhone commercial says “There’s an app for just about everything”, well there is a Wordpress plugin for just about anything and I find this blogging platform to be such a wonderful and vast universe that’s expanding. It seems only natural to be part of it.
Why Wordpress?
The only other web/blogging platform that I’ve used is Joomla and after switching to Wordpress it felt like such a breeze to manage practically everything. It has a very user friendly UI (user interface)… there’s a lot of documentation on the web and a lot of high quality free and premium themes. This blog uses the Thesis Theme (affiliate link).
I fell in love with this theme because of its flexibility. The user can change it around any way possible! There’s an amazing support forum where you can find practically anything. There are also a lot of websites that give out tutorials on how to customize it. Just to give you an example, you can change the look of every individual post and page by simply assigning a custom CSS class to them. Requires some knowledge of CSS but some of the tutorials are simple ‘copy & paste’s.
The theme is also SEO friendly – there are fields under each post you make where you can place your custom tags and meta description.
I digress.
There’s a lot of things to love about Wordpress and blogging in general. But I think most of all it’s the ability to connect with your readers and interact with them about a subject of interest, in this case Internet Marketing.
As a web and graphic designer, I am going to try to put as many tutorials on Photoshop (i.e. how to create a great looking header) and HTML and CSS tricks from an Internet Marketing point of view.
I hope you tune in and share your thoughts on each post.
And hopefully this blog will teach you something throughout its lifespan and I also hope to learn from you.
To our success!
